The Relationship We Build Next
If you've chosen to rebuild, here's the reframe that matters: healing isn't about going back to how things were. The old relationship is the one that broke. Recovery, done well, means consciously building a new relationship on top of what you've learned — more honest, more connected, more deliberately cared for.
What we don't want to go back to
The affair was a choice, not 'caused' by problems — but old patterns are still worth naming so you don't recreate them.

- A way to flag 'I'm feeling distant' early
- Small daily turning-toward — noticing, appreciating
The rituals we'll actually keep

Not the old one back — a better one chosen: You're not trying to resurrect what was. You're building something more honest, with eyes open, on purpose. That's what makes it stronger than before.

- Trust and the Resentment Backlog, from The Neurodiverse Couple. How trust erodes in a neurodiverse couple, why lying is often shame not malice, and how to mend.
- Building Your Couple Operating Manual, from The Neurodiverse Couple. The capstone: turn everything you've learned into one shared couple operating manual — map your two systems and write agreements that actually stick.
