Am I Ready for the Next Step?
'Should we take the next step?' is really two separate questions tangled together: is this the right person, and am I ready for a bigger commitment at all? This worksheet is about the second one — your readiness — because you can meet the right person at a time you're not ready, and knowing the difference saves a lot of confusion.
What does 'the next step' actually mean here?
'The next step' is vague — pin it down. Becoming exclusive? A label? Meeting family? Moving in? Name the specific thing.

Is it a good time for me?
Tick what's honestly true right now.
- [ ] I have the time and energy a relationship actually needs
- [ ] I want this for its own sake — not mainly to fix loneliness or escape something
- [ ] I can be honest about who I am, instead of performing a version of me
- [ ] I can say no, and hear no, without it blowing up
- [ ] I want calm, steady connection more than constant intensity
- [ ] I've got enough of my own life and support outside a relationship
What I'd be saying yes to
What this commitment would actually mean day to day (more time together, compromise, their needs alongside mine)

How ready do I feel, honestly?

What I'd need first
Anything I'd want to know, feel, or sort out before saying yes

Ready isn't 100% certain: No one feels totally sure before they commit. 'Ready enough' means you have the capacity and the willingness to build it — not a guarantee it'll be perfect. And 'not yet' is a complete, honest answer you're allowed to give.
